My Shillelagh - Cheap Shots
In today's culture of cheapshots and low-blows I take pride in the sportsmanship that ND players exhibit on the field. You don't see that eye-gouging, nut-punching garbage happening at Notre Dame. Heck, when Eric Olsen continues a block just 2 seconds after the whistle Charlie "gives him the business" on the sideline.
I hope that standard never changes in South Bend.
Up in Ann Arbor, that standard has slipped a bit. For the second time this season we saw a Michigan player punch an opponent during the game. The first incident occurred in the Notre Dame game when Mouton punched Eric Olsen under the helmet.
After watching the above video, any sane person can conclude that Jonas Mouton deliberately punched Eric Olsen in the face. Now, I can understand people getting upset on the football field, it's an emotional game, right? The problem is, when a player losses control as Mouton did, the Coach should be the first person to step in and adjust that players behavior. Well, that wont be the case at U of M. Take a look at Dick Rod's response to the incident.

How long before we see Dick Rod produce another Pacman Jones? Congratulations Michigan, your once respectable program is now among the garbage that is running rampant in sports.
This past weekend, Wolverine OT Mark Ortmann punched an Illinois D lineman in the who-who's after Tater-Tot Forcier lost a fumble. Unfortunately that video has been removed from Youtube.
Here's another example of terrible sportsmanship. Watch as LB Brandon Spikes of the "all mighty" Gators attempts to gouge the eyes of the defenseless Georgia Running Back. After reviewing this incident, Urban Meyer came down "hard" by issuing a half game.. thats right, half game suspension. Better yet, Florida is playing Vandy. You couldn't suspend him for the entire game Vanderbilt game, Urban?
I will take a couple cheapshots of my own every once in a while:
Compliments of LSUfreek.
