Freshman Derek Roback Transfers
True Freshman Derek Roback has decided to take his chances at Ohio University. Roback, a versatile athlete from Waverly, OH, is seeking the opportunity to play under center at the collegiate level. With classmates Andrew Hendrix, Tommy Rees and Luke Massa all battling for the future QB spot, Roback's dream of quarterbacking a team in college was becoming unlikely in South Bend.
Coach Kelly and his staff was utilizing Roback's athleticism at other positions, adding depth to the safety position. Coach Kelly praised Roback's character and wished him well. This transfer marks the 3rd of the Brian Kelly era.
