Irish Have Fuel for Rivalry Game

Yes, Saturday's match-up against Michigan is just the 2nd game in a 12 game season.  Coach Kelly stressed that ND is preparing for this game no differently than any other game, seemingly diminishing the rivalry that exists between these two storied programs.  We all know better... and so do the players.  Coach Kelly's attempt to keep his players "level-headed" may work, but deep down they know that importance of this game.

Irish players, coaches, and fans need not look far for motivational tidbits to tuck in their helmets for this game.  There are many reasons why Notre Dame Nation is filled with angst over the Skunkbears of Ann Arbor.  Allow me to get your Irish juices flowing as we near Saturday afternoon's vaunted battle.

The Punch - We all remember Jonas Mouton's cheap shot on Eric Olsen after a play...

The Classy Denial - Skunkbear Head Coach Dick Rod didn't have the stones to admit the infraction despite video evidence.

Tater Tot's 15 Minutes of Fame - ND fans will never forget the frustration and heartbreak as Tate Forcier drove the Skunkbears down the field and skampered to victory over the Irish last year.

Enter Denard Robinson - After week 1 of the 2010 season, college football has all but inducted Denard Robinson into the Hall of Fame.  Notre Dame is being overlooked by all.  ESPN "expert analyst" (errrrrrr)  Adam Rittenburg had this to say:
"I also have my doubts about Notre Dame's line play and the overall toughness of that team. Robinson is certainly the X-factor here, and while Michigan can't run him 29 times again, he'll make some big plays. If special teams makes the difference, Michigan could be in trouble. Notre Dame jumps ahead, but D-Rob leads the Wolverines back in the fourth quarter for a narrow win and continues to grow his legend in Ann Arbor."

Fighting Irish faithful unite!  Join me in cheering on the Irish this weekend as they avenge the disrespect and dissappointment that has come at the hands of our enemies from the north over the past year.

Hear me now... NOTRE DAME WILL WIN THIS SATURDAY.

GO IRISH!
